Nest Tote

Pattern: Elisa's Nest Tote
Size: to be worn on the shoulder
Yarn: Berroco Cotton Twist, Purple
Needles: 10.5 straights for the lace, size 8 DPNs for I-cord, 5mm crochet hook for seaming
Satisfaction: High

This was a quick easy knit and an excellent stash-buster. I originally bought the yarn to make a tank top, but had less than half of what I needed. It has been languishing in the yarn drawer ever since and it worked perfectly for this tote. The ply of rayon gives it a little sheen, but splits out like crazy. If it didn't add a little bit of class to this reusable grocery bag, I'd have about lost my mind.

The pattern is great - it works up very quickly. I was a little daunted by all of the I-cord and the crochet hook seaming technique, but all of that went really smoothly. The worst part (and this has nothing to do with the actual pattern) is that I couldn't for the life of me remember which row of the lace repeat I was on. Usually, I can look back a row and "read" the stitches to find where I am, but that just didn't work here. Thankfully, I don't think it's obvious.

All in all, this is a good one. I might even make a couple of more. In manly colors though, since S does the grocery shopping and would probably resent carrying a purple lace bag to the checkout.
