I hope the doctor was right...

...and my cousin really is going to have a girl in the next couple of weeks.

I have never knitted any baby stuff before. It's fun, so I'm glad there are some babies that can put it to use. It also also opened my eyes to a new way to use some lovely yarns I have limited amounts of. The Classic Elite Premiere was another gift from my secret pal. It is the softest, loveliest cotton I've ever used. The skein is 108 yards and I made all of this with a good handful left over, probably enough to make another bootee or two. Also, in real life the flower buttons match the purple ribbon exactly. I'm really curious to try some EZ baby goods next, but before I tackle that, I'm ready for some grown up knitting. Maybe my first real sweater, perhaps?

PS -the straps are modified because I put them on backwards while watching "Hot Fuzz" and was too lazy to fix them.

Not Happening

I'm in the process of making baby gifts for some new little earthlings expected to join us in September, but none of them will be receiving a Child's Placket Neck Pullover.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the pattern, but I haven't made it past the first step. I think the yarn might be to blame. It's Berroco's Cotton twist and it's kind of like rope. Add that to the fact that I have the whole thing stretched over 24" circulars, and it becomes a huge pain. I do have a wee little hat and booties in the works, so the babies won't be completly without hand knitted goodness.

Because really, I think we'd all be a little kinder and gentler if we were greeted into this world with hand knits.
