Kite Fest!
Sunday was the 80th annual Zilker Park Kite Fest. It was a perfect day to fly a kite...super windy, cool, and not too sunny so you can stare at the sky for as long as you need to.
I couldn't get over the sheer number and variety of kites. There was probably close to 500 kites flying around the park. They came in all shapes and sizes...pirate ships, aliens, rockets, butterflies, dragons, sharks...my pictures can't do it justice.
Events like these are one of the reasons why I am so happy that we moved here. We packed up the dogs and spent a few hours wandering around looking at all of the kites, booths, doggies and babies that came out to enjoy the festival. And despite the gray weather, only a few sprinkles hit the ground and there were no Benjamin Franklin-style accidents.
