Reasons for a Good Mood

• Bright and shiny pedicure for 30% off at the new salon by work
• Unexpectedly getting out of work early
• Finding "Vintage Knits" at Half Price Books AND having a birthday gift card to use to buy it.
• Getting the last pair in my size of the shoes I want for the wedding.
• The last ball of Landscapes on sale at Michael's for two bucks. It's probably not enough to do anything with, but it's pretty, like an Easter egg. (I never do anything with those either)
• Hempathy, for the Raspy in Denim People or the Indigo Ripples Skirt in this spring's IK.
• Lelah is blooming, now that I have the pattern memorized

It's Not the Size that Matters, but How You Use It.

My stash is small, and could use some S-E-X...from upper left to right...white handspun silk for knitting a garter that never happened, two hanks of DYO sock yarn that I have plenty of ideas for but no time, green grassy novelty yarn and blue fuzzy novelty yarn that I got for my birthday last year, and still have no idea what to do with, leftover Paton's Classic and some leftover boucule stuff I used to make a neck warmer for my sister out of. The Blue Sky Alpaca sportweight is missing, since it's at S's house and my order for the other half still hasn't come in and I may have to return it and re-buy it online.

All of the above fit in here.... and all of my leftovers and some dusty WIP's are in the basket on top and the bag on the right, the one with needles haphazardly escaping from it.

I had a crazy, but great weekend this past, and have stories and pics to share that have nothing to do with knitting. But some of the pictures are of a cat and others of fire, so that should appease the blog gods.
Tomorrow night is the great wedding invitation put-together, so hopefully S will still want to marry me afterwards and hopefully I will have some time this week to post the aforementioned stories, pics of the new WIP, and the yarn I got to beef up my skinny stash!

Not so Twinkletoes

*Oh, the sadness*

I started the Twinkletoes pattern from this winter's Knitty before Christmas. One slipper only took three short nights of knitting to make, but sadly, it doesn't fit well at all. The thing is way too big and I am not petite of foot at a size 8.5. They were even big on my younger sister, who comes in at a size 10. The loose toe I could deal with, maybe send them through a hot wash and dry and shrink away the floppiness, but the heel, the heel is sized for perhaps Paul Bunyan, or some other mythically gigantic person.

All of this is a real shame, since I liked working the pattern and it would have been a great way to use up the rest of my Salishan.

I made a list of projects I want to make in 2007...I can easily say I have about 6 months worth of pleasant work ahead of me.

The Next Big Thing

Socks, hats and scarves are all good things, but I'm ready for something I can really sink my teeth in to. I've never done any Fair isle, so to design my own motif and make it into a bag, well, I think that counts as a Big Thing. I really enjoyed coloring in all of those little squares and watching the pattern grow while chaos regined all around me (hello six people and one working toilet). People who know me in person may laugh at this because I'm sure I seem like the Queen of Entrophy, but doing small, repetitive, and orderly tasks is such an enjoyable thing to me and one of the few places I can find peace from my mind.

I'm off to another job interview this morning. The last one was a bust, and I've just today gotten over the depression of that one, so I hope this one goes better. Baby needs a new house.
